How to Study For The Maryland Real Estate Exam
Can we can assume that you do understand the best way to pass any test is to fully understand the material? After all, getting your Maryland Real Estate License is one of the most important accomplishments of your life. So, how do we do that?
- Take real estate practice exams over the course of 1-3 months depending on your knowledge level.
- Watch YouTube videos of real estate exam prep teachers. They are awesome and they are free! We have quite a few but there are other great teachers as well.
- Memorize all the real estate vocabulary. This should be common sense, but make flashcards and just go over them until you know them all.

How many times can you take the Maryland real estate exam?
There is no maximum number of attempts for the Maryland Real Estate Exam, which means you can take it as many times as you need in case you fail the first try. However, there is a factor to keep an eye on; there is a one-year timeframe from your eligibility being issued until both portions of the test are approved before your eligibility expires. Also, the examination fee will have to be paid in full for each subsequent attempt.
How many questions are on the Maryland Real Estate Test?
We have interviewed PSI and spoken to the Maryland Real Estate Commission. We can confirm at this time there are 110 total points to be scored for salespersons on the real estate exam, those questions are divided into 80 national questions and 30 state-specific. For brokers, there are 75 national questions and 40 state-specific questions for a total of 115 questions. However, some of the national questions in the national portion of the test are scored up to two points.
Is the Maryland Real Estate Exam hard?
Yes! It is very hard. As of 2023, only 52% of agents pass the licensing exam on the first try.
The good news is, the people passing the real estate exam are using a real estate exam test prep (like us!) and their pass rate goes to 93%.
how much is the Maryland real estate exam?
The cost of the exam is $44 for salespersons whether you take the full exam or just the state portion. For brokers, the examination fee is the same, whether you take the State exam only or the National Exam only (or take both).
Can You Take The Maryland Real Estate Exam Online?
No. In Maryland, the option for an online proctored exam is not available and you will have to attend PSI test centers, you can find them in Baltimore and other cities such as College Park, Crofton, Hagerstown, Lanham, and Brainseed. Keep in mind to show up at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time for the test.

What Score Do I Need On The Maryland Real Estate Exam To Pass?
The passing score for the Maryland examination varies. Salespersons must score 56 out of 80 points on the national portion of the test and 21 out of 30 points on the state-specific questions. Brokers must get 56 out of 80 points in the national portion and 28 out of 40 points in the state-specific questions. At the end of the test, you will receive a score report showing a diagnostic report on each examination type.
