How to Study For The Virginia Real Estate Exam

Let’s assume that you do understand the best way to pass any test is to fully understand the material. After all, getting your Virginia Real Estate License is one of the most important accomplishments of your life. So, how do we do that?

  1. Take real estate practice exams over the course of 1-3 months depending on your knowledge level.
  2. Watch YouTube videos of real estate exam prep teachers. They are awesome and they are free! We have quite a few but there are other great teachers as well.
  3. Memorize all the real estate vocabulary. This should be common sense, but make flashcards and just go over them until you know them all.

How many times can you take the Virginia real estate exam?

Students can take as many attempts as they need to pass the real estate license test in Virginia. If one of the portions of the exam is failed, you will have to pay the exam fee again and retake the corresponding option.

 

How many questions are on the Virginia Real Estate Test?

We have interviewed PSI and spoken to the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. We can confirm at this time there are 120 total questions on the real estate exam. On the national portion of the exam there are 80 questions and the remaining 40 are Virginia specific. For Brokers there are 75 questions in the national portion of the test and 50 questions in the state portion for a total of 125.

Is the Virginia Real Estate Exam hard?

Yes! It is very hard. As of 2024, about 37% of agents  pass the licensing exam on the first try.

The good news is, the people passing the real estate exam are using a real estate exam test prep (like us!) and their pass rate goes to 93%.

how much is the Virginia real estate exam?

The fee of $60 for both Sales and Brokers examination must be paid at the time of reservation by credit card, debit card, or voucher. Payment will not be accepted at the test center. Examination fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you fail the exam, you will have to pay the examination fee again.(but don’t fail, work with us)

Can You Take The Virginia Real Estate Exam Online?

No. In Virginia, they do not allow online testing for the real estate licensing exam. 

At the end of the test you will see your final score if you took if by computer. If it was a done with paper, PSI will send the results to  you and the the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.

What Score Do I Need On The Virginia Real Estate Exam To Pass?

For salespersons, you need to answer 56 questions correctly on the National examination and 30 questions correctly on the State examination in order to pass the examination. For brokers, you need to answer 60 questions correctly on the National examination and 38 questions correctly on the State examination in order to pass the examination.
